Join violinist Amy Beth Horman for a discussion and exploration into memory, mindset and preparing for those big performance moments.
Amy Beth is a soloist, chamber musician and educator and has performed numerous orchestral and recital appearances across the US and Europe. Her appearances are always eagerly anticipated: The Washington Post hailed her as "having the stuff of greatness."
In this session, Amy Beth will be sharing her personal experiences both as a performer and a teacher with participants and there will be plenty of time for questions.

Tips and Tricks for Freelance Musicians with Claire Whitson

Performance Psychology for Students with Lee Holland

During sessions you as a performer will build a psychological tool-kit that you can use to perform more consistently in pressurised situations. As you practise these skills you will feel more in control of your preparation and delivery, and strengthen confidence.

Approaching Bach’s Cello Suites with David Watkin

Join David Watkin, renowned cellist and interpreter of baroque music, as we explore understanding and approaching the incredible Cello Suites of J.S. Bach.
Unaccompanied Bach has taken him all over Europe, from the Palace of Frederick the Great at Potsdam to the Prague Spring Festival, and, as part of Sir John Eliot Gardiner's Bach Cantata Pilgrimage, included performances sitting by the font in which Bach was baptised. Highly unusually, his recording of the complete Suites won both a Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine Awards.

Creativity, Innovation & Workshop Delivery with Lucy Drever

Lucy is one of the UK’s foremost creative leaders presenting and delivering workshops and family and school concerts for orchestras including RSNO, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia, and presenting concerts at venues including Wigmore Hall.
In this session, Lucy will discuss with you the skills and qualities required to create and deliver an innovative and successful workshop. She will share with us her experiences presenting and hosting, and work with you to unlock your creativity and imagination in preparing and planning workshops, narrated performances or teaching resources.

Advanced Technical Problem Solving for Violinists with Julia Bushkova

Julia Bushkova is one of the strongest contemporary violin pedagogues. She is a specialist in the art of diagnostics of any technical or musical problem and impediment, offering creative ways to understand and overcome them. In this session, Julia will share some strategies and creative ways to overcome some of the technical problems faced by violinists at conservatoire level and there will be an opportunity for participants to take part in this session. Please indicate on your registration form if you would be interested to play an active part in the session.

Healthy Bodies – Flexibility & Breathing with Melissa White

Join violinist and co-founder of Intermission, Melissa White, for a session dedicated to flexibility and breathing for musicians.
In addition to her musical career, Melissa has enjoyed practicing various styles of yoga for more than a decade and completed training in both Vinyasa and Ashtanga at Sampoorna Yoga School in Goa, India. She is the co-founder of Intermission, a ground-breaking program that unites body, mind, breath, and music-making through yoga and meditation. Intermission comprises sessions for students, retreats for professionals, and an app for everyone.

Exploring the String Quartet Rehearsal Process with Melissa White

Melissa is a founding member of New York-based Harlem Quartet, where since 2006 her passion and artistry have contributed to performances that have been hailed for “bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent” (Cincinnati Enquirer).
In this session, she will explore with participants the string quartet rehearsal process and will be joined by guest musicians in this session. Although this session will focus primarily on string quartet rehearsals, all instrumentalists are welcome.
With Harlem Quartet she has worked with such classical-music luminaries as Itzhak Perlman, Ida Kavakian, Paul Katz, and Anthony McGill; appeared in many of the country’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, the White House, and the Kennedy Center; and performed throughout the U.S. as well as in Europe, Africa, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
